2010 Scholarships

Superior Credit Union is proud to sponsor our unique and innovative Scholarship program called "Laptops for Learners".  We annually award up to five new laptop computers to selected students graduating from secondary schools anywhere in the District of Thunder Bay who are going on to study at Lakehead University or Confederation College.

Superior Credit Union has been a proud sponsor of the John Scott Memorial Award since its inception in 1992.  The award was created to honour the memory of Mr. John Scott, a long serving Director and past Board Chair of the credit union. His contributions, first to the Fort William Civic Employees Credit Union and then to Thunder Bay Municipal Employees Credit Union were extensive. This Scholarship is evidence of the high regard in which he was held by his fellow Directors, management and staff.  The John Scott Memorial Award is a cash scholarship, awarded annually and based on the information we request and criteria we have established.

Our Members are Our Owners

You and over 9,500 residents of Northwestern Ontario own Superior Credit Union. Our members are the heart of our credit union. We're a part of your community. As a co-operative institution, we reinvest our deposits and profits in the community to enhance the lives of the people who live and work here.

Each member has opportunities to direct the operations of Superior Credit Union through the election of a volunteer Board of Directors at our Annual General Meetings, held each fall.  As well, you may receive dividends based on the amount of business that you do.  Superior Credit Union has returned over $1,000,000 in dividends to our members in the past five years, paid out on membership shares, rebates on interest paid on Loans and Mortgages and bonuses on interest you have received on your deposits with us.
